It's been another packed weekend for our timing crews as they've ventured out over the last three days to provide our high quality timing services for a number of fantastic events across the South of England.
Friday evening saw one of our crews heading to Chelmsford for the Friday Night 5 with it's routes around some quiet vilalge roads. While this team were keeping busy in central Essex, another of our crews were on their travels down to West Sussex, ready to meet the dawn with the amazing athletes taking part in the Sunrise To Remember.
Saturday evening saw our quietest patch of the weekend where our teams grabbed some well earned rest. before two more crews headed out early on Sunday morning to offer their timing talents at the Flaming June Half Marathon and the Horndon 10K.
Very well done to everyone who took part in events over the weekend and thank you to all of the Race Directors, marshals, First Aid Crews and other volunteers who work so hard to make these events happen.
THE FRIDAY NIGHT 5
The Friday Night 5 is one of seven annual races that makes up the Essex Athletics Road Race Championship.
The race is organised by members of Springfield Striders and crewed by it's member runners and other volunteers. The event's 5 mile course takes on two laps of the quiet roads around the scenic village of Pleshey.
Every athlete demonstrated amazing fitness and focus, something truly born out as this year's race even saw the course record being broken!

THE SUNRISE TO REMEMBER
Almost 300 entrants at the Sunrise To Remember got a rare opportunity to embark on a ten or twenty kilometre walk as the sun climbs over the horizon to begin another day.
Starting out with the sky still on the edge of darkness, this event is possibly one of the most beautiful to be involved in while raising money for a deserving charity at the same time.
Challengers taking part in the Sunrise To Remember all make great efforts to gain sponsorship and help support St. Barnabas House in their fantastic work.

THE FLAMING JUNE HALF MARATHON & 10k
The Flaming June Half Marathon is an event that we've been delighted to provide timing services for over many years now. The atmosphere at each race has been fantastic and this year was no exception.
With more than 350 athletes booked for the event, the recreation ground used for the race village was buzzing in the lead up to Gun Time as everyone took to warming up and getting ready to go.
Another fantastic half marathon with some amazing weather and truly stellar effort from everyone involved!

THE DAVE STAINES HORNDON 10K
Taking place during the annual Feast and Fayre in the historic village of Horndon-on-the-Hill, the Horndon 10K saw more than 300 entrants of all ages and running ability coming out to enjoy this ever popular event.
The Horndon 10K is another event that we are always delighted to support with our timing services and we always look forward to seeing it appear on our calendar.
This year saw a change in the name of the race in memory of Dave Staines. Dave was a well known runner, organiser and supporter of the Horndon 10K for more than 20 years who sadly passed away in 2020 and is missed by so many.
